Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival

  • Altitude: 1345 meters

Welcome to the Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal and also the "city of the temple" with discovering colorful temples and grand pagoda. After landing at the International airport Nepal Hiking Trek representative will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Rest of the day you can explore the Kathmandu city. You can also do the shopping and buy your necessary things during the trekking in the Thamel or near the city. In the evening, our guide will give you a brief about the trekking like when to starts, what to do and many more.

Day 02: City tour or a free day to explore and shop

On the second day of your trek, you will explore the Kathmandu city, enjoy the sightseeing tour to the major heritage listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites like Hind temple Pashupatinath, Krishna Mandir, Buddhist stupa Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and the city old palace complex like Kathmandu durbar square, Bhaktapur Durbar square and many other heritage.

You can also explore in the street of the Thamel, buy the necessary gear and other personal requirement things before heading to the trek because in the trekking trial you can cost very high charge compared to the city. Be prepared mentally and physically, take complete rest in this day to run your trek smoothly and make the complete success of the trek.

Day 03: Short flight to Lukla and hike to Phakding

On the third day, after the early breakfast, you'll begin a breath-taking mountain flight from Kathmandu-Lukla. Lukla is a small beautiful village where you can enjoy the magnificent views of the snow-capped mountains.

After enjoying the short mountain flight to the Lukla we start our adventure walk against the blooming rhododendron and bamboo forest to the Phakding.

You can visit the local monasteries, enjoy the unique culture, tradition, and religion of the local people in the Phakding.  Rest of the time make sure to take complete rest and be prepared for the further hike.

In this village, you will be provided with a wide range of the teahouse and lodge. You choose any one you like.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazar

  • Altitude: 3440 meters
  • Trekking hours: about 5-6 hour per day
  • Explore the Namche bazar- the gateway and also the main trading center of the Khumbu region.

  • On the third day, you'll head to the Namche Bazar

On the third day, you'll head to the Namche bazar crossing the beautiful pine forest, following the track of Dudh Koshi river and also you will cross the Hillary Suspension Bridge which is named after Sir Edmund Hillary.

Walking the into the Sagarmatha National Park, you can see some rare wild species like Red Panda, snowy leopard, Himalayan Thar and many more. We can also enjoy the views of the Mt Everest from this village. Day 05: rest and Acclimatization day at the Namche Bazaar

On the fourth day, we will rest in the Namche Bazaar. But actually, there is no rest at all. You will explore the village, about their culture, religion, tradition and also you need to follow the small advice:" hike high and sleep low" and walk slow and steady it means you have to hike in the higher altitude and sleep at the lower altitude.

In this day you will hike to the Khumjung village which is 300 meters high then the Namche Bazar. You will visit the school, some monasteries, explore in the village, known about the remote works and lifestyle and descend down and spend the night at the Namche Bazaar.

Day 06: Namche Bazar to Tengboche

  • Altitude: 3860 meters
  • Trekking hours: around 4-5 hours
  • Highlight: Tengboche monasteries- the largest monasteries of the Khumbu region

  • Meal: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

On the fifth day, with the chirming sounds of the birds, crossing the beautiful rhododendron and bamboo forest, walk through the narrow paved way, enjoying the awesome views of Mt Ama Dablam, Mt Thamserku and other surrounding peaks we head to the Tengboche village. Tengboche village is very famous for the largest monasteries of the Khumbu region, you can visit these monasteries are get the blessing. Here in this village, you can see many trekkers and climber going to trek for receiving the blessing before climbing the summit of the Everest Base Camp.

Day 07: Tengboche to Dingboche

  • Altitude: 4360 meters
  • Trekking hours: 4-5 hours
  • Highlight: heart touching views of Mt Lhotse, Mt Nuptse, Mt Taboche and few other surrounding peaks.

  • Meal: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

On the sixth day, you will continue the walk through the blooms rhododendron, alpine and bamboo forest, crossing the several charming villages on the trial, explore the village get the opportunity to be more familiar with the local culture, religion, tradition and remote lifestyle. Passing by the Khumbila Khola valley you will ascend down the ridgeline where you can enjoy the beautiful views of Mt Taboche, Mt Nuptse and many others.

Dingboche Village

After a while following the route, you'll reach the Dingboche, where you can see the landscapes started to change, enjoy that scenery, explore in the village. Overnight at the Dingboche village.

Day 08: Acclimatization day at the Dingboche

  • Meal: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Highlights: explore the Dingboche village, enjoy the mountain scenery from the place.

On the eighth days, is our acclimatization days at the Dingboche village and you'll trek up a steep mountain, the trail is quite steep and rocky but at every moment the vistas become more spectacular. You can view the gorgeous views of Mt Ama Dablam and other mountain peaks with the prayer flags at the viewpoint. If you wish and weather and time favor you can also hike in the top hills for the clear and the beautiful views of these snow-capped peaks.

After enjoying the views descend back to Dingboche, if you have extra time you can rest or explore the charming village and overnight at the Dingboche.

Day 09: Dingboche to Lobuche

  • Altitude: 4950 meters
  • Accommodation: basic teahouse
  • Meal: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Trekking hours: 4-5 hours
  • Highlights: magnificent views of the world iconic mountains

On the ninth days, you'll head to Lobuche from the Dingboche village through the dense rhododendron alpine and bamboo forest, following the track of the rivers, waterfalls. During the walk, you'll pass the high boulders displaced by the glacier. You will feel little difficult while climbing the hill but don't worry, keep calm and walk slow and steady.

At the top of the hills, you can see the gorgeous views of the snow-capped peaks and also you can see the body of the climber who lost their lives while climbing to the summit of Mt Everest. You will spend some time, enjoy the beautiful scenery. After climbing for some time you will reach to the Loboche village. Explore the village and spend the night at the Lobuche.

Day 10: Lobuche to Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep

  • Altitude: Gorakshep(5170 meters), Everest Base Camp(5300 meters)
  • Trekking hours: around 4-5 hours
  • Accommodation: basic teahouse
  • Meal: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Highlight: Gorakshep, Everest Base Camp, Khumbu glacier

Finally, this is the most beautiful day of your whole journey as you'll climb to the Everest Base Camp. On the 10th day, after the early breakfast, you'll move towards Gorakshep. On the trial to Gorakshep, you can enjoy the view of the Khumbu glacier, as you come near to the Gorakshep, the trail becomes rough as walk over the large rocks up and down.

EBC Trek- Accommodation

As you reach near to the Gorakshep, take rest and move ahead to Everest Base Camp. Slow and steady is the key to preventing the altitude sickness in the high altitude. Slowly you will reach to the top of Khumbu glacier and you can view Khumbu icefall from there.

After a few hours walk, you will reach at Everest Base Camp (5300 meters). You are in the base of the world highest mountain-Mt Everest and other surrounding peaks, capture some beautiful moment and descend back to Gorakshep. Overnight at Gorakshep.

Day 11: Hike to Kalapather, descend to Periche

  • Altitude: Periche( 4270 meters) and Kalapther(5555meters)
  • Trekking hours: 5-6 hours
  • Accommodation: Basic teahouse
  • Meal: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Highlight: Kalapther-the attractive vantage point of the Khumbu region.

On the Eleventh day, you'll hike to the attractive point of the trek, Kalapather. It is real that the summit of Mt Everest is not seen from Everest Base Camp, the view of the summit is blocked by Mt Nuptse so Kalapther is considered the attractive point to enjoy the beautiful view of the summit. You can view the incredible view of Mt Everest, Mt Khumbuste, Mt Changtse, Lhotse, Mt Nuptse. And walk to the Periche and overnight at Periche.

Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar

  • Altitude: 3440 meters

On the twelfth day, you will be processed to descend back to Namche Bazar, slow and steady you'll head down the massive hill, you'll hike with gentle up and down, again you will cross the suspension bridge, pass the small village, after a few hikes you will reach to the Namche bazar-the capital and gateway of the Khumbu region. Explore the village rest time and overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 13: Namche Bazaar to Lukla

  • Altitude: 2840 meters

On the thirteenth days, early in the morning, you'll trek back and it's your last day adventure like in the Khumbu region.  Trekking following the Dudh Koshi river, you'll arrive at the Phakding, have some rest and trek back to Lukla.

Here you will explore, enjoy the local and traditional cuisine, enjoy the local culture, tradition, and hospitality. This will be your final day at Khumbu region, enjoy for the beautiful complete of your trek and prepare for a flight to Kathmandu.

Altitude sickness

Altitude sickness is also known as mountain sickness. Altitude sickness is a group of symptom that can strike if you walk or climb in the high altitude too quickly.

The major symptoms of altitude sickness are:

You might have:

  • Headache

  • Dizziness

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Fatigue and loss of energy
  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of appetite
  • Problems with sleep

Preventative measures of altitude sickness are:

Drink at least 4 to 5 liters of water per day.

If possible, starts walking from low altitude to high altitudes instead of driving or flying. If you must drive or fly to an altitude above the 10,000feets, stay at your first stop for one day before going to the high altitude.

  • Always move to a lower altitude if you found the symptoms of the altitude sickness
  • Avoid tobacco, alcohol and other drugs and sleeping pills while trekking.
  • While at the high altitude, eat only a balanced diet which includes more than 70% carbohydrates.

Get the information about the early sign and symptoms of the altitude sickness and take the action to prevent it from getting worse.
