We start Makalu Base Camp Trek Solo from the Tumlingtar which is about 30 - hours drive from Dharan or either you can experience the mountain flight to the Tumlingtar from the Kathmandu. The next we will drive to the Num from the Tumlingtar which is our starting point. I recommend you experience this trek one time in your life.

We start our adventure hike from the Arum valley (435 meters far from the sea level) to Makalu at the altitude of 8463 meters which is around 40 Km far from the valley.

The best season to trek Makalu Base Camp Trek Solo is in September to November and from March-June.

Walking in the lower altitude of the Arun and Barun valley you can see the Rai, Sherpa, and Shingsawa (Bootie) communities. Though they and economically very poor and isolated they are very rich in cultural heritage and ancient culture and tradition. Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu

  • Altitude: 1300 meters
  • Accommodation: Kathmandu three star hotels

After your arrival at Kathmandu, a representative from Nepal Hiking Trek will pick up from the airport and take you to the hotel. (BB Plan)

Day 02: City sightseeing tour or free day

Boudhanath Stupa

In the second day of our trek, after the early breakfast, you will enjoy the full sightseeing tour around the Kathmandu valley. You will enjoy the visit of pilgrimage Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath which are very ancient and enlisted in UNESCO world heritage sites. Or you can also enjoy this day by resting of roaming around the Thamel street, buying the necessary gear and personal equipment for the trek. Overnight at the Three Star hotel at Kathmandu.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Tumlingtar

Day 04: Tumlingtar to Num

On the fourth day, with the early breakfast, we walk head to the Num. The trail takes you all the way through the forest of rhododendron and sal trees along the ridge to Arun Than passing the beautiful village. The trial also crosses a plateau and climb the high altitude with the wonderful views of the Makalu and other surrounding peaks crossing the Arun Koshi River we reach to the Num. overnight at Num.

Day 05: Num to Seduwa

  • Altitude: 1495 meters

A walk through forests and terraced farms takes us to Barun River. We cross the river and move ahead to reach valley (Seduwa) where Makalu Barun National Park begins and where we register our permits. Overnight in Seduwa.

Day 06: Seduwa to Tashigaon

  • Altitude: (2065 meters)
  • Trekking hours: 4-5 hours
  • Highlights: exploring the Sherpa, Rai village, Tashigaoun. Beautiful views of the snow-capped mountain with the local monasteries and Gompa.
  • Accommodation: Basic teahouse

The village bounded by the Ipsuwa Khola on the west and Kasuwa Khola to the east. Crossing the paddy field and villages, we reach the beautiful village of Tashi Gaon. We enjoy the breathtaking Himalayan panorama. Overnight in Tashigaon.

Day 07: Tashigaon to Khongma Danda

  • Altitude: Trekking hours: 4-5 hours
  • Highlights: walk the beautiful Himalayan flora and fauna, cross the Kaharka Pass

We will have a little tough day today as we walk in higher elevation. We will walk through forests, stone stairs, lakes, and cross the Kharha pass to reach Khongma Danda. Overnight in Khongma Danda.

Day 08: Rest at Khongma

Day 09: Khongma Danda to Mumbuk

We climb the Shipton la pass, cross the Lake Kalo Pokhari, Kele La pass we can see the charming views of Chamlang, Peak 6, Peak 7, and descend through to the beautiful valley of Mumbuk, Overnight in Mumbuk.

Day 10: Mumbuk to Yangri Kharka

Day 11: Yangri Kharka to Makalu Base Camp

Day 13: Makalu Base Camp to Yangri Kharka

Day 15: Mumbuk to Khongma Danda

From Mumbuk we climb steep and move ahead towards through the dense fire forest and rhododendron crossing the Shipton La Pass, Kele La passes and descend to Khongma Danda. Overnight at Khongma Danda.

Day 16: Khongma Danda to Tashigaon

We leave from the Makalu Barun National park and descend down to the Barun river. We cross the hill, valley, and settlement. We move further to reach Seduwa. Overnight at Seduwa.

Day 18: Seduwa to Num
